Get Involved with Baxter Creek Watershed Alliance

Your skills can help protect the watershed, strengthen community decision-making, and grow your own leadership experience.

About Us

BCWA works to protect and enhance the Baxter Creek watershed and surrounding natural areas, including efforts to conserve the former Millbrook Correctional Centre lands as publicly accessible greenspace.

Our Vision

A thriving Baxter Creek watershed where First Nations knowledge and western science unite to protect ecological health, engage young people and families as watershed stewards, and ensure that land, water, and community thrive for future generations.

Our Mission

We generate scientific evidence informed by First Nations wisdom to protect watershed health and empower communities, governments, and First Nations to make informed stewardship decisions.

We are building a diverse and skills-balanced board to guide the organization’s next phase of watershed protection, community engagement, and environmental stewardship. Board members will assist in guiding the actions outlined in the new strategic plan for the next 4 years.

Board members participate in strategic planning, governance oversight, fundraising support, and community engagement. BCWA encourages applicants who help strengthen gender, age, cultural, and professional diversity on the board. Prior board experience is a plus but not required.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

• Environmental science or watershed management
• Fundraising, grant writing, or corporate partnerships
• Indigenous stewardship perspectives

• Project Management/Leadership

• Community Development

• Accounting, finance, or financial oversight
• Legal or governance expertise
• Communications, media, or community outreach

Interested applicants should submit:

• A brief letter of interest outlining how your skills and prior experiences can contribute to the growth and operations of the board.

• An updated resume/bio
